Persistent mycotic superficial femoral artery pseudoaneurysm after endovascular treatment: a case report

Abstract Mycotic pseudoaneurysms of the superficial femoral artery (SFA) are rare and usually secondary to colonization an atherosclerotic plaque during episode bacteremia. We describe case a 68 year-old diabetic male who presented Emergency Department with pyrexia painful expanding mass in left thigh. He had history diarrhea been treated 16 days earlier for SFA pseudoaneurysm that excluded covered stent no adjunctive antibiotic therapy. Angio CT showed abscess surrounding vessels thrombosis. Under general anesthesia, we performed extensive debridement, removal endovascular material, ligation, empirical Blood tissue cultures were positive Escherichia coli. At 3-months follow up visit, patient reported he claudication. In selected patients, mycotic can be by ligation.
